Met By Midnight Cover Reveal!

Sometimes books find you, choose you, and don’t let go of your heart.

And sometimes, it starts with a dream. Kind’ve cheesy, but it’s true.

Last September I had a mental health breakdown. I was burned out, depressed, anxious, and in the ER. At the requirement of doctors and loved ones, I took several weeks off trying to sort out everything. In the midst of that, I wanted–I needed–to write. But I had no idea what. None of my current projects were speaking to me at all.

Then I had a dream about a young woman racing to a palace and frantically searching through a study inside. Looking for something. She wasn’t meant to be there. And behind her came this young man that I knew was the prince. Whatever whims she’d used to get inside the palace didn’t work on him. But I knew he was already in love with her. More than anything.

And I knew she was in a terrible situation. Where she felt unseen. Unheard. Used up and burned out. She couldn’t see the hope and joy anymore, but somehow, she kept on going.

In the midst of sorting out my own mess, writing about this young woman dealing with hers was a gift from God, and a kind of therapy. I quickly realized it was a type of Cinderella narrative–and from there, it took off. A few months later, it was finished (with a hard-won happy ending and some lovely bits of humor, I promise!), then was picked up by Uncommon Universes Press. Now, this September, Met By Midnight is slated for a dual-release with another lovely Cinderella retelling, Ashen by the incredibly talented H.L. Burke.

And I only hope it gives others the courage to never give up, even when they feel powerless. For there is always hope.

Now breathe deep, go forth, and be awesome.

Uncommon Universes Press is offering Met By Midnight and Ashen for only 99 cents in ebook preorder! Grab your copy now.

About the Book

An outcast prince. A captive healer. A single night that changes their destinies.

She lives a nightmare.

As a Mender, Renna is held captive to an endless cycle of receiving and recovering from the physical ailments of others—a cycle that led her mother to an early grave. When her father becomes deathly ill, Renna is desperate to save her only remaining family. Even if it means allying with criminals and taking an illegal mission into the royal palace on the night of their greatest ball.

He’s haunted by dreams.

Unable to be Mended, Prince Jaric’s existence is a curse to his family’s façade of health and security. Marrying him off at the ball and sending him to a distant dukedom is the royal solution—but Jaric has his own plans. For years he’s dreamed of a young woman, a strong-hearted Mender he would give everything for. When she arrives the night of his betrothal, he’s determined to discover her true identity.

Met by midnight, their fates are entwined.

While escape seems the only answer, powerful forces conspire to keep Renna and Jaric within their cages. Forces that undermine the foundations of the kingdom itself—and threaten any hope of a future together.

This YA romance features Cinderella in an original fantasy world with a dystopian twist.
